Meet Carlsbad Veterinarian Dr. Lynn Yut

Lynn Yut, DVM Dr. Yut graduated from Ohio State University in 1984 with honors.  She has lived in Carlsbad since 1988, and has been married for 20 years.  She established All Cats Hospital in 1991, which moved to its new location in 2007. Dr. Yut decided in high school that she wanted to be a veterinarian.  She attended Ohio State University where she earned a degree in Microbiology.  Her main focus at that time was equine medicine.  Dr. Yut had never really been exposed to cats until she began veterinary school and found their independence, grace and mystery, fascinating.  She had always wanted to live in California, and moved there immediately upon her graduation from veterinary college.  Dr. Yut practiced equine medicine for 5 years before shifting her focus to feline health care.  She finds both veterinary medicine and surgery rewarding, particularly preventive diagnostic medicine, as she believes this keeps cats healthier, happier and living longer. Dr. Yut initially worked at a feline practice in Pacific Beach CA and then in 1991, she opened her own private practice.  She always strives to treat and diagnose each cat as if it were her own.  Dr. Yut feels every cat brings a unique joy and bond to their caretakers.  She has a special interest in feline dentistry as so many cats suffer in pain without their owner knowing.  Feline dental care is one of the most important aspects of preventative medicine that will extend a cat’s life.  Dr. Yut takes special care to decrease anxiety while cat patients are visiting All Cats Hospital, and to be proficient, caring and as gentle as possible, when working with your feline companions.  She currently has only one very special pet, Abyssinian Baggins, an eight year-old male, who is not really sure he wants any other roommates.  When not practicing, Dr. Yut’s hobbies include sailing, kayaking, and camping in the mountains.

Candace, Veterinary Receptionist Candace joined our reception staff in May 2015, putting her in the perfect position to use her knack for efficiency and detail to help our clients. You will appreciate having her on your side to coordinate your client care. Her individualized attention to your cat’s needs ensures your cat will receive the quality service you and your cat require. A New Jersey transplant, Candace has been living in Southern California since 2001. She graduated from San Francisco State University in 2006 after studying English Language. Candace enjoys singing in her church choir and doting on her six nieces and nephews. Candace rescued her cat Delilah from the side of the road as a kitten, and now she is a shy and delicate old lady. Delilah hates toys with bells and the outdoors, and she enjoys early dinners and quiet evenings at home.
Susan Rice, BVM&S All Cats Hospital has a new associate doctor! Dr. Rice’s welcome addition to our medical staff will help to ensure that there is an opening for you on the day you require. Your cats will relax in her calm and certain presence and benefit from her up-to-date instruction. Dr. Rice is excited to offer her specialized training in Western Veterinary Acupuncture and Chronic Pain Management to assist your cat in attaining some much-needed pain relief. Dr. Rice grew up in Pennsylvania surrounded by all kinds of animals including goats, chickens, miniature donkeys, and highland cows, in addition to horses, dogs, and of course cats. She started riding horses and barrel racing when she was 5, and always thought she wanted to be an equine vet. A few years after graduating from Penn State with a Bachelor’s degree in Photography and minors in Linguistics and International Arts, she returned to her life-long dream. She moved her boyfriend and two cats with her to Scotland where she attended the University of Edinburgh and achieved a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery degree with Distinction in July 2017. Dr. Rice discovered the allure of feline veterinary practices while in veterinary school, and learned valuable trade secrets by spending time at several cat practices. This gives her the ability to treat your cat with the understanding and respect it deserves. The need for sunshine brought Dr. Rice and her cats Cooper and Sonora to settle in southern California. These well-traveled kitties have been in a plane, train, ship, bus, taxi, truck, and car! Her journey has now brought her to All Cats Hospital where she eagerly anticipates applying her feline experience to your cat’s dedicated care. As well as attending to her feline patients, Dr. Rice enjoys reading books, making art, doing yoga, and horseback riding.
